Intro to Farmstead Cheese Making: Fresh Cheese

100.00

First class of a three part series. Discover the process of Farmstead, hand-crafted cheese making: Pasture to Cheese Plate, the life cycle of farmstead cheese.

Beginning cheese classes start with meeting our herd; learn about the seasonal changes of milk; explore pasteurized vs. raw milk, learn the merits of making fresh cheeses at home, practice hands-on techniques for adding cultures and rennet and ladling your cheese, then flavor your own chévre with a variety of ingredients from our farm. You will leave with a recipe, knowledge of how to make fresh cheese from start to finish AND your own flavored chévre!

Cheesemaking classes are for ages 16 and up. Beginning classes are 2 hours on Saturdays, 10 am -12pm and include creamery products to take home.

Students should wear clean clothing and clean comfortable shoes. Creamery apparel (lab coats, hairnets, shoe covers and gloves) will be provided.
